Grayscale Laser
We have a HP LaserJet 2100TN, which is a grayscale laser printer. It has PostScript support, two papertrays and no duplex unit.
Setup
IPP
If you want to print something, the printer should appear on your printer list if you use Linux. Printing server (CUPS) is figurehead and the printer is shared via IPP (Internet Printing Protocol).
FTP
Printing is also possible by uploading a PostScript file to the FTP service on the printer.
CUPS
You can setup printing on your system with the following URL:
socket://printer
A PPD file is needed for installation.
Administration
Ask the friendly networking team for assistance, if the printing server gets stuck or questions remain.
Services on the printer
There is a Java based web frontend on the printer. It sucks.
Telnet is also available.
Color Inkjet
There is also a color inkjet printer available, HP Deskjet 930C. Connect it to your computer with an LPT or USB cable and see http://www.openprinting.org/printer/HP/HP-DeskJet_930C for help with software drivers.
NOTE: Please use this printer at least once a month or so, else the inkjet cartridges will dry out.
